Enriching Life

Quality of Life  |  Lifelong Learning | Community Engagement

This service has truly enriched my mom's life, as well as many others.

My mom is a resident of an assisted living center. She loves to read, and during the pandemic she read her way through the in-house library of her facility. I quickly realized I could not afford to purchase enough books to keep her happy. She needs large print and isn't able to navigate ebooks.

Now, not only is Mama regularly receiving books she requests, so are several other readers at her facility.

As a voracious reader myself, I knew I had to find a solution. I contacted the Live Oak Library System to see what might be available. I was quickly transferred to Pat Bradley at the Southwest Chatham Branch. She explained Books on the Go, helped me set up a library card for Mama, and immediately put a few books on hold for her. Pat enthusiastically arranged a visit to Mama's assisted living center to present the program to other residents.

Now, not only is Mama regularly receiving books she requests, so are several other readers at her facility. I was so excited about the program that I shared it with my local library. They are now exploring ways to offer services to less mobile members of our community.

This service has truly enriched my mom's life, as well as many others. Thank you!
