Food for Fines is a fee amnesty and food drive program running throughout September during Library Card Sign-up Month. The initiative is offered as a goodwill effort to help the community, reduce barriers to library use, and increase access to library materials.
The program allows libraries to accept nonperishable food items as an alternate form of payment from patrons for overdue fees on Live Oak Public Libraries materials only.
All food items must be nonperishable, unopened cans or packages in good condition and within 90 days before expiration date.
Donations will be accepted at Circulation Desks at all 16 Live Oak Public Libraries locations.
Libraries will be given boxes (1 for canned goods and 1 for packaged items).
Each food item will have a $2.00 value. Maximum donation will be 15 food items for $30.00 in waived overdue fees.
Donations are applicable for overdue fees on Live Oak Public Libraries items only. The community may donate food items even if they do not have overdue fees. Donations will not be credited towards future fees.
