The Clemente Course in the Humanities

The free Clemente Course presents the humanities at a college level. Georgia Southern University professors teach literature, history, art history, philosophy, critical thinking, and writing. The program is designed to inspire and equip motivated, low-income adults to take charge of their lives. 

  • improve reading, writing, and communication skills
  • study important events, ideas, and creations from history
  • meet new people and develop leadership skills
  • stretch your mind and master complex information
Classes start January 6, 2020 and are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM.

The course is free, including books and dinner. Transportation and childcare vouchers are available.

The course will run for 20 weeks with one week off for Spring Break over St. Patrick's Day week.

The Clemente Course in the Humanities® is a unique educational institution founded in 1995 to teach the humanities at the college level to people living in economic distress. The course is taught by faculty from local colleges and universities.  Students learn through dialogue about moral philosophy, literature, American history, art history, critical thinking, and writing. More than ten thousand students worldwide have attended a Clemente course. The Savannah Clemente Course, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3)
