Presented by: David Oppenheim, Johnny Mercer Historian
Join us for a special presentation to celebrate the 110th birthday of Savannah's own "musical ambassador to the world", Johnny Mercer. The program will feature video excerpts of Johnny's first guest appearances on television shows, performing his own songs and those of other songwriters whom he admired.
Johnny will entertain the audience through clips from "The Texaco Star Theater" (1949), an unseen pilot "Meet Me at the Waldorf" (1951), Musical Chairs-game show from Los Angeles (1955), The Rosemary Clooney Show (1956), Steve Allen Show (1960), Person To Person (1961), Pat Boone Show (1961), Andy Williams Show (1963), and Mike Douglas Show (1968-69). The event will wrap up with a brief Q&A session.
